IF:Gathering 2018

IF:Gathering desires to disciple the next generation of women to live out God’s calling on their lives. We all get tired. Sometimes we even start to question if following Jesus is worth it. At IF:Gathering 2018 we’re gathering to be reminded that we weren’t given a spirit of fear or doubt or insecurity. We’re going to encourage each other to keep following Jesus with perseverance because HE IS WORTH IT.

This weekend 80 women from my tiny community gathered together to watch the simulcast. In five years this is the largest gathering we’ve seen in our area. For the past couple of years I watched from my friend’s couch with a small group of friends. The first couple of years I watched at home on my laptop. It’s amazing to see what God is up to!

         

IF:Gathering’s mission is to Gather, Equip, and Unleash women to disciple people who disciple people. Although the live simulcast is done for the year, you can still purchase the download to view at home. Or better yet, gather your people and watch it together! You can also gather monthly over a meal with IF:Table. In the picture below are ladies from two different IF:Tables sharing what gathering together monthly has meant to them. Classical Conversations

We love Classical Conversations! This year Francesca is doing Foundations and Essentials, and Katie is in the Challenge A program. It is such a huge blessing to our family to be part of a local community where we learn together and support each other. I figured since we’re more than halfway through the year it was probably time to dump some CC pictures. They are solely for the purpose of documenting for our future selves; I took most of these  all stealth-like because I didn’t want to be that mom.

Science Fair!

Katie is doing the Challenge A program this year at Classical Conversations, and is loving it. Tonight was the Science Fair, and although she was super nervous about presenting her project (The Chemistry of Hair Highlights) she rocked it! We don’t have a large CC Community, but everyone was there encouraging the kids and admiring their hard work, reminding me yet again how blessed we are to have other homeschool families to be in community with.

One of the skills we’ve been focusing on lately is cooking. Francesca has always had an interest, but Katie just recently caught the cooking bug! We’re starting with simple, healthy recipes, but I can see their skills rapidly expanding to include just about anything that strikes their fancy. Yay for big kids!

Snow Day!

Friends

Don hurt his back, and we had 2 cords of wood delivered today. Without giving it a second thought, these two kids came and worked with Katie and Francesca stacking until the job was done. Their parents are some of our closest friends, and they are generous with their time, talents, and friendship. Their children have clearly learned some valuable lessons from them; about serving others and what it means to be a friend. What a blessing it is to walk through life with these people.

Braces!

Katie has been wanting braces for well over a year now. Since Sam’s teeth straightened out on their own, we’ve been making her wait, hoping the same thing would happen with hers. We finally gave in, realizing that wasn’t going to happen. I don’t think there’s ever been a kid in all of history that has been as excited as Katie was to get her braces on! Please welcome the newest, proudest member of the brace face club!
